Incidence of haematopoietic malignancies in US radiologic technologists (2005 )
In a study of 41 cases of leukemia other than chronic lympocytic leukemia (CLL), radiologic technologists who worked 5 or more years before 1950 and those who held patients 50 or more times for x-ray examination appeared to have a higher risk of leukemia. Leukemia risk was not related to year or age first worked, number of years worked in more recent periods, total number of years worked, specific procedures performed or equipment used, or personal radiotherapy. Working as a radiologic technologist was not linked with risks for multiple myeloma, non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, Hodgkin’s lymphoma, or CLL.
