Lung cancer risk among U.S. radiologic technologists, 1983-1998 (2006 )
We evaluated lung cancer risk in relation to employment characteristics among radiologic technologists who completed the baseline survey in the mid-1980s. With 287 lung cancer cases identified, smoking-adjusted lung cancer risk was not related to year began working as a radiologic technologist or number of years worked in any time period. Risks were increased in technologists who held patients for x-rays and those who allowed others to take practice x-rays on them, but did not increase significantly with increasing number of times these practices were employed.
